About Us
Who is the handsome, long-earred son-of-an-ass that is the inspiration for this blog? Why that is the one and only Palmetto Bug. Also named Roach.
Why Roach? Originally named for many equine companions of Andrzej Sapkowski's the Witcher, someone gave an unsolicited opinon assuming he was named for the bug. And no one tells me what to name my animals. So Palmetto Bug he became. As a proud Floridian, I'm actually quite fond of it all now. Let me tell you about him: he's small, brown, has large antannae, eats whatever he pleases, can definitely fly and is extremely durable. Wait, am I talking about a palmetto bug or my mule? You'll never know!
Roach is what's called a cracker or sugar mule. Pretty much he is grade mule from a riding horse (grade Quarter Horse in his case) and standard jack. He is 14.1 hands and has all the pretty primitive markings.
Like my husband, we met online. Unlike my husband, we met a year and a half ago. It was love at first bray.
What about me? Oh, I'm a 30 something year old homeschooling mom. I've been riding all my life and after owning a crazy horse, I decided breed had no meaning to me. That's how I found my mule. He has reinvigorated my passion for equestrian sport. If want to here me talk more about myself and history, click the button!
